Wonderful Pastels! They can be bold and buttery, they’re highly pigmented, and they’re your very direct creative connection to the paper. Whether you’ve started your pastel journey or you’ve just been thinking about trying them, here’s a good chance to jump in. In this class, we’ll explore the many ways to create a sound and pleasing painting, step by step. So many options, so much to explore!!!

Come prepared to expand your ideas about the medium and grow your confidence in using them which, with practice, will soon translate to a much more enjoyable experience.

In this 2-day class Mary Ann will demonstrate and provide instruction in pastel. With instruction from IAPS Master Circle pastelist Mary Ann Pals, students will work from reference photos and learn how to choose harmonious colors to create a vibrant pastel painting.

Mary Ann will give demonstrations and will also provide individual help to students. This workshop is recommended for age 18+ advanced beginners and above.

**A few FREE sample Ludwig pastel sticks will be given to all students.

In this 2-day workshop Teri will explore many ways to paint with pastels, adding new techniques to your painting process. Using soft Pastels provide the most direct flow of pigment from human hand to paper of almost any medium. That makes using soft pastels very exciting, This workshop covers the tips and techniques that will enable you to develop your own style and build confidence with pastels.

Focusing on strong light/dark contrast, you will plan your composition, surface color choices and attention to edges of shapes using photos for reference. Note: Students will receive a few free sample pastels from Terry Ludwig Pastels, LLC to use and take home!
